Enterprise growth: In tables where enterprises are divided by growth in the number of employees, this growth is now calculated based on last year, while it was previously calculated based on the establishment year. An important reason for the change is that the number of employees is considered an average over the entire year, also in the establishment year. For enterprises that were not established at the start of the year, the number of employees in the establishment year is therefore lower in the statistics than it actually was while the enterprise was active. The revised statistics thus have a significantly lower number of growth enterprises from age 2 years.

Education: The measurement date is now in accordance with the entrepreneur statistics otherwise, while it was previously 1 year older. Entrepreneurs who establish enterprises in the same year as they complete their education have now got their highest education registered in the entrepreneur statistics.

Financial industry: Here two changes have been made. 1) Family-owned investment companies have since the reference year 2019 been moved from industry "64-66 Financing and insurance" to "00 Unspecified". Now, this move has been implemented for the entire time series. The reason for the move is that the companies exercise control over the enterprises they invest in, and therefore do not conduct financial activities in the traditional sense. It has not yet been decided which industry these investment enterprises will belong to. 2) In 2005, a temporary exemption from capital gains taxation applied to persons who transferred all their shares to a holding company. This led to a large number of enterprise registrations within the financial industry this year. The enterprises have now been retained, whereas they were previously removed.

Enterprises established by enterprises: In the table of entrepreneurs that are enterprises (08680), enterprises owned entirely by persons are now counted as persons, and not as enterprises, as is the principle otherwise in the entrepreneur statistics. This results in somewhat fewer entrepreneurs that are enterprises, and a significant shift from "Entrepreneurs of enterprises owned by only enterprises" to " Entrepreneurs of enterprises owned by persons and enterprises".

Harmonizing with the business demography: The microdata for new and surviving enterprises has been harmonized with the business demography (registered enterprises), after this was reorganized in 2023. This has led to only minor changes in the total level, but may have significance in some detailed categories. Reactivated enterprises are not included in the entrepreneur statistics, however, since this is not considered as "real" establishing. This exclusion currently results in discrepancies between the entrepreneur statistics and business demography. Eventually, this will also be harmonized, by publishing suitable series in the enterprise demography.
