Som vi har sett i avsnittet om befolkningen, var den forventede levealderen i 2002 76,5 år for menn og 81,5 år for kvinner. Det er en økning på vel to år for menn og vel ett år for kvinner fra ti år tidligere.

I internasjonal målestokk har forbruket av rullings vært uvanlig høyt i Norge. Fabrikkfremstilte og hjemmerulledesigaretter har hatt ulik avgiftsats, noe som har bidratt til å forsterke forskjellene i utsalgspris.

25 år med selvbestemt abort i Norge

Lov om selvbestemt abort ble vedtatt 30. mai 1978 og trådte i kraft året etter. Motstanderne av loven fryktet økte aborttall. 25 år etter at loven ble vedtatt, er aborttallene nedadgående.

I 2000 døde 226 barn før fylte ett år. I løpet av 1900-tallet har det vært en dramatisk nedgang i slike dødsfall.

Ektefolk har bedre helse enn enslige og skilte, noe som kan skyldes at de som har dårlig helse, har lavere sannsynlighet for å bli gift og større sannsynlighet for å bli skilt.
