43 credit points per student
On average, students at universities and university colleges achieved 43 credit points in 2010/2011.
Among ordinary full-time students, the average completed credit points was nearly 52. A full-time study course normally gives 60 credit points.Compared to the previous academic year, the average credit point production is stable.
Among all the students who completed credit points, the students at other university colleges - consisting of private university colleges together with Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Bergen National Academy of the Arts and Norwegian Police University College - had the highest average of credit points, by 48 points per student.
Fewer without credit points
Thirteen per cent of registered students during the 2010/2011 academic year did not complete any credit points. This is a decline of one percentage point compared to the previous academic year. Among ordinary full-time students, the proportion without credit points is stable at 10 per cent. More men than women did not complete any credit points.
Women account for more credit points
Among ordinary full-time students, 52 per cent achieved 60 credits or more in the 2010/11 academic year; a decline of half a credit point compared to the previous year. More female ordinary full-time students than male achieved 60 credit points or more, with 54 and 49 per cent respectively.
Transport and Communications, Safety and Security dominates
Students in the field Transport and Communications, Safety and Security and other services had the largest share of ordinary full-time students achieving 60 credit points or more. Sixty-six per cent of the about 3 400 students enrolled in this field of study completed a minimum 60 credit points.

Full-time studentsStudents' overall course registrations form the basis for calculation. In order to be counted as a full-time student, a student must be registered for courses that provide at least 70 per cent of 60 credits. There are a few exemptions. This applies to any educational institutions where Statistics Norway receives information that a course is full-time or part-time. |
