123 million gross tonnes in East Asia
In 2011, Norwegian ships made 3 630 port calls in East Asia. The gross tonnage of these port calls was 123 million. General cargo and other dry cargo vessels made up 1 441 port calls and 58 million in arrived gross tonnage.
Norwegian ships of 1 000 gross tonnes or more made 63 800 port calls in non-Norwegian ports in 2011. Arrived gross tonnage was 1 269 million. Ships in the Norwegian Ship Register (NOR) and in Norwegian International Ship Register (NIS) made 27 395 port calls, with an arrived gross tonnage of 620 million. Norwegian controlled ships registered outside of Norway made 36 428 port calls, with an arrived gross tonnage of 648 million.

NIS vessels big in East Asia
Among Norwegian general cargo and other dry cargo vessels making port calls in East Asia, NIS vessels dominate. Out of 1 441 port calls and 58 million arrived gross tonnes, NIS vessels made up 841 port calls and 37 million in arrived gross tonnes. Arrived gross tonnes from Norwegian tankers and bulk vessels were 32 and 26 million respectively, with the share from NIS vessels at 14 and 11 million tonnes.
Europe most important
Norwegian ships made 63 800 port calls in non-Norwegian ports in 2011. The corresponding arrived gross tonnes came to be 1 269 million. In Europe there were 38 600 port calls with 473 million of arrived gross tonnes. Scandinavia and the Baltic countries saw 126 million of arrived gross tonnes, Northern Continental Europe 125 million, UK and Ireland 86 million, Southern Europe 68 million with 68 million between Iberian Atlantic, the Black Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean.
